On 1 March, Carrefour will start to promote the “Movicupón” on the Telecinco television channel. This is a ground-breaking system for discount sales which uses state-of-the-art MSS (Mobile Selling System) technology to reserve and collect products through the mobile phone. The development of this system is undertaken by the agency flash2flash.com, a market leader in mobile marketing solutions.

The “Movicupón” is a discount coupon that the buyer will receive on his/her mobile phone which can be used in exchange for the article on promotion in a previously assigned Carrefour centre. The coupon, which allows the user to buy an article with a discount of up to 30%, will be sent to each mobile phone as a QRCode, a two-dimensional bar-code that can be decoded directly on the mobile phone screen with a special reader.

Request by SMS

The user interested in buying an article associated to the promotion discount should send three text messages: one with the request, another with his/her postcode – so as to determine the nearest collection point –  and another one with the last three numbers of their National Identification Number. Once the request is processed, the system will send the buyer a message with the code, a reference and a text with the collection details.

Once the process has been completed, the user can go to the assigned Carrefour centre with their National Identification Card where they will be identified, the code will be read and validated, and the article will be given.
